How to delete your account
In the app Fastest
Open Dibs → Settings → Delete Account, and confirm. This is a self-serve, immediate deletion — you don't need to wait on us. Your account is deleted and you're signed out right away; there's no multi-week processing queue.
By email If you can't access the app
Email support@justcalldibs.com from the address associated with your account, with the subject line "Dibs account deletion request." Include:
- The email address on your account
- Your display name in Dibs
- Your household's name, if you're in one
- A clear statement that you want your account deleted
We verify these requests before acting on them to make sure we're not deleting the wrong account. Never send us your password — we don't have one to reset, since Dibs doesn't use email/password sign-in, and we'll never ask for one.
What actually gets deleted
Deleting your account:
- Deletes your user profile and removes you from your household's member list.
- Unassigns any chores that were assigned to you (the chores themselves stay with the household, since they're shared content — but no longer linked to you).
- Removes your name from message-board posts you wrote (the post's text stays visible to your former household, since it's shared content, but is no longer attributed to you).
- Removes you from pending notifications, and deletes notifications that were only for you.
- Deletes your sign-in account entirely, so you can't sign back in — you'd need to create a brand-new account to use Dibs again.
Some information may persist briefly in backups or logs after deletion, and we may retain minimal records where legally required — for example, brief abuse-prevention rate-limit records that expire automatically. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Deleting your whole household: read this first
This is more than deleting your own data
Deleting your own account (above) only affects you. But any household member can also delete the household itself — not just their own account — and that permanently deletes the household's chores and message board, and permanently deletes the sign-in account of every member of that household, not just the person who deleted it. There's no separate "leave data intact for the others" option once someone chooses to delete the household. If you just want out and don't want to affect anyone else, delete your own account (or leave the household) instead of deleting the whole thing.
